Update Hp Instant Ink Account
I purchased this machine for my home office. I have printed roughly 200 pages on it already and I have noticed a few things. Know that I'm partially deaf so that's saying something. This machine makes a fair amount of noise when a print is engaged and the act of printing is even louder.
How it works. HP Instant Ink acts like your own personal ink assistant. When you need ink, your printer automatically lets HP know to send more. Purchase an eligible HP printer that reorders ink and delivers it right to your door before you run out. With plans that start at $3.99 a month, it’s the most.
Now if your printing in draft mode or strictly b&w, it's a little faster. But when you add color to the mix, it seems to drag out and even stop mid print to 'catch up.' It ghost jams. I used slightly higher quality paper for a 100 run print and it got 'jammed' every few pages. There wasn't an actual jam, but the process was halted each time none the less.
CONCLUSION: I would not buy this printer again. I've had success inside the brand, but this particular machine is more hassle than it's worth. I've used all the functions of the printer so far except for the fax. I also got the instant ink subscription and I couldn't be happier.
One thing that I've always struggled with is the cost of ink and now I don't have to worry about that. I have gone through 3 printers in the past year because I don't like one thing or another but I haven't found anything to complain about with this one.
I've printed pictures, documents, and labels and they've all come out amazing. It's also pretty fast compared to the Epson printer I had previously.
I also like the fact that it was very easy to set up with my wifi and connect to our 2 laptops and our desktop. Definitely recommend it! I buy a new HP OfficeJet for my study every 6-8 years - not because the old one didn't work (because they run forever), but just to update features. The Officejet Pro 8710 is the latest in that purchase history and, with each one, they get less expensive with more features and easier to set up and work with. Simply put, the 8710 is a terrific all-in-one printer in the HP tradition and I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. BestBuy, of course, had the best price around on it, and when I went into the store to purchase after asking a few questions, I found that I was talking to an HP rep (not a regular BestBuy employee) who knew the products I was looking at inside-out, and I was able to confirm that the 8710 was the right printer for me. Great product and an equally great buying experience!
I'm working on my Mac desktop and previously owned an HP OfficeJet 8610 (Printer 1) which required a new printer head. Luckily I purchased the extended warranty that Best Buy offers. Unfortunately, the 8610 is discontinued and was refunded the cost of purchase. I decided to go with the newer model 8710 (Printer 2).
I plugged it in and did the basic (date, time, etc) setup on the printer and as instructed continued the installation online. It requested to download the installation wizard and follow its instructions. All went well in connecting the printer to the network but when it came to adding to printer, it for some reason lost connection and was given an error message. I had to restart the printer for it to connect again and proceed. When it came time to print the test page, again, it lost connection.
I restarted the printer and the test page printed. I've called HP technical support (in the Philippines) multiple times, each call lasting about an hour with a representative 'specialized' in Apple software (Mavericks, Yosemite, El Capitan). Call 1, representative said it was my internet connection so he continued by splitting my internet connection from 5.0 to a 2.4 (slowing my internet) and requested to shut modem, printer, and desktop off and on again. I let them know that it will print but will eventually stop. The printer printed and that was their goal.
Continued my work and when I continued to print, it didn't. Call 2, representative stated that it was my Norton security and said Apple computers don't need extra security and continued on by deactivating my security. Shut everything down and on again. Once again I let them know it will print but will eventually stop. Printer printed and that was that. Continued my work and when I tried to print, it didn't. Call 3, representative stated it was the IP address along with my modem and continued on by tapping into my modem and changing all sorts of settings and then changed the IP address to the printer.
Restarted everything and printer did not print. Representative wanted to restart the installation process from step 1. I ended the call. I exchanged the printer at Best Buy thinking it was probably just a bad printer. Demarrage Par Auto Transformateur Pdf. I called HP to ensure I was installing the printer correctly and that I wasn't missing or doing something wrong. I asked to speak to someone in the USA (not that I had something against Philippines but during me calling the accents were getting difficult to understand and them to understand me.
I had to speak slowly at times) but was transferred to a supervisor, who then transferred me to the apple specialist department, who then placed me back in queue to the automated system you get when you first call, then to a representative in the Philippines, then to the Apple 'specialist' department, who then called Apple Technical support in California and transferred me over. The phone signal was weak so the representative had to hang up and call me back. The Apple representative ran test to ensure it was not an Apple software issue or any type of glitches.
She stayed on the phone throughout the installation process and we ran into the same issues. I demonstrated how if I turn the printer off and on it prints one page but then will no longer work. She concluded it was the printer's software and needs to be addressed by HP. She suggested I call HP. This printer is incredibly powerful and prints very quickly for the price. I got it for 70 dollars off MSRP during the back to school sale. Autocad 2014 Crack Xforce Free Download. It's absolutely excellent for printing pretty much anything and is great when coupled with the 300 page HP Instant Ink plan.
The Instant Ink saves a lot of money with this printer, especially when printing high volumes. Being an engineering student and printing 20 page lab reports every week, I found that the ink plan really lives up to its value. Not only that, the print speed (24 ppm) and the auto duplexer really help with printing double sided papers really fast before class. Honestly the best part was the seamless setup on my girlfriend's Macbook, my Linux computers, and various mobile devices I have in my apartment. Definitely recommend this to any college students, especially those in career-oriented majors. This printer performs all of its functions brilliantly.
The setup was very easy and did not take much time at all. I own a mix of Apple products (MacBook Pro, iPad, IPhone) and PC and they are perfectly compatible without any problems. I wanted a printer that could handle a high volume of print jobs, while providing high quality prints, without breaking the bank on print cartridges. This printer succeeded. The only downside is the length of time I have owned it - I cannot attest to the reliability yet but so far so good. I bought this HP Office Jet 8710 less than a month ago, paid to have it installed, but shortly after this, when I tried to send a fax, it wouldn't work and the copy feature wouldn't work either.
I had someone from Geek Squad come out, they got it running properly, but then about 10 days later, the same problem started. I got another Geek Squad guy come out, he got it going ok, but shortly after he left, the copy feature wouldn't work. He even told me if it did happen again, he recommended I return it.
So, since I needed the printer for scanning and e-mailing purposes for the business, I will wait until the weekend to return this. I will plan on having someone from Geek Squad come to install the new one, as things are not as easy as they once were for me to set it up myself, yet I was told I would still be charged $99.99 for this. The thing about turning it off and then back on again isn't working and no one should have to do that anyway.
Hi Northpoint, I would be happy to help you with your fax and copy features. I understand you have the 8710 and cannot copy or fax, but are you able to scan?
Perhaps the issue is the scanner bulb. This is the troubleshooting document for if you are unable to send fax:, but you might also consider the power source. Maybe the bulb is not getting enough power to function. Let's perform a hard reset. To do so, leave the printer on and unplug the power cable for 1 minute.
While it is unplugged, hold down the power button on the printer for 10-15 seconds to release any built up power, then after the minute has passed, plug the printer back in. Also, even if you have been using a surge protector/power bar all this time and you feel it is not the cause, please connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause.
Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector ( ). * In this document you will see, ISSUE: Problems or issues may arise when an HP LaserJet series printer is connected to an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), a power strip, or a surge protector. Upgraded from my old HP Photosmart printer and was somewhat disappointed with this Office jet printer. When using the scanner or copy feature, no matter what setting I use, it still won't scan or copy the entire item all the way out to the edge. It leaves a border of white that cuts off part of what I'm wanting to scan or copy.
No print preview feature when printing from a computer either so be prepared with extra paper on hand for multiple attempts to get what you want achieved. On the plus side the document feeder is capable of 2 sided copyng/scanning and is very fast! You can make adjustments to the documents on your computer when scanning from it and that is a very good feature. Another downside though, when scanning multiple items on the scanner bed from the computer, you have to manually select (crop in) each item that you want and save each one manually which takes a lot more time to do. The old Photosmart would select them automatically for you. This printer qualifies for their HP Instant Ink program which is a plus.
