W203 Subwoofer Install
Hey everyone, i searched the forums but couldn't find much about this, so i thought i'd post up. I have a 12 inch sub and amp that I want to put in my 2002 C240 using the factory headunit. I am going to check with a few local shops to see how much they would charge to install it.
Mercedes-Benz C-Class: How to Install Subwoofer. An aftermarket subwoofer will vastly improve the sound of your stereo's bass over your factory speakers.
Would I need any adapters or any additional hardware to get this thing hooked up? One shop that I spoke with today said that Mercedes cars are wired up with fiber optics and it was going to cost over $350 just to install it. I think I read somewhere that only the higher end audio packages (bose?) or newer w203s use fiber optic wires. What's the scoop? How much would you consider to be a fair price for the installation alone? Thanks Eric P.S. If I missed a thread about this, please pass the link on and delete this post.
They tap it into the rear speakers and use a converter for the RCA to the amp+1 I have a 12' L7 with a hiphonics amp. They charged me 300 for the installation and it turned out fine. The only problem was that my license plate screws started to come out from teh bass hitting soo hard.
I thought that was a good thing (kinda telling me that my sub is doing its job) but then i had to replace the screw. I got this package as well that ran all the wires to the speakers but unfortunately i stopped there, for now! My stock speakers are really good but ive been looking forward to putting in some kicker speaks and tweets!
Yes you can do it. I reccomend a EQ if your getting speakers too.
